Yarn choice/selections

Yarns with heavy rayon content may or may not hold the pattern in a stockinette stitch based design like the Elegantly Simple Triangular Shawl as rayon is known for its wonderful drape. Of course, when a shawl is stretched across one's back, the pattern is sure to show but maybe not as much as a yarn like Cloud 9 with a balanced content of rayon and cotton.

If Jackie is viewing the blog, I would like to have her opinion.

Hi Margaret and all,

Even though generally speaking this shawl would be put into the stockinette-based lace category, there is a good amount of texture in the overall pattern itself (i.e. the purl columns and the heavy texture created by the triple decreases). So I think that even an all-rayon yarn will be able to hold up nicely, although as you say, will be more drapey than a cotton/rayon blend. It really comes down to personal taste. Isn't it fun to have all these choices?!

Happy knitting, Jackie E-S

Just found this KAL. I've ordered the pattern so should be ready to start in a couple of days. This is going to be fun. I love Jackie's patterns and lace is my favorite technique. Thanks for having me.
