Elegantly Simple Triangular Shawl Knitalong

Elegantly Simple Triangular Shawl Knitalong

I wonder if anyone knows how many stitches you will have on your needle when the shawl is big enough. I have about 272 and am having trouble telling how large the shawl will be. I am using a size 5 needle.

Oooh, Nancy! Can you post a picture? I bet it is beautiful! I asked Margaret the same question. She suggested just draping it over your shoulders and seeing how long it hangs in the back, allowing for additional length after blocking. As far as the number of stitiches on the needle, my guess is it will depend on how loosely/tightly you knit and the yarn you are using. Hope the experts weigh in on this one.
Happy Knitting!

With the B&B shawl, I'm knitting till I run out of 800+ yards of laceweight yarn, I'm not going for a particular size.

With the wedding shawl, my skein has about 2400 yards and I'm using a double strand. I will either knit till I run out of yarn or till I don't want it any longer. My daughter is about 6 inches taller than I am and so it should be a bit longer than what I would want for me.

I have about 375 stitches on my needle and almost out of yarn. Maybe a row or 2 and then I am bind off. Does anyone know how to crochet bind off?
Happy Knitting,

I am using handspun yarn and don't know how many yards I had when I started. I guess I have a way to go if Debby has over 300 stitches. I just want to get it off the needles so I can see what it really looks like.
Thanks all,
